The nuclear debate

Description

As global pollution menaces the future of the earth, there is no single environmental issue more important than the choice of energy supply. There is no means of generating electricity that is entirely safe, no means that is absolutely clean, and no means that is free. All that can be done is to examine all the possible sources of energy for electricity generation and select the one with the least danger to people and nature, and with a reasonable cost. Nuclear power, coal power, hydroelectric power, solar power, and wind power are compared with regard to the impact each has on the environment. The conclusion drawn is that nuclear power is the cleanest and safest means of large scale electricity generation. 1 ill
