Assessment of Indre-et-Loire's hydroelectric potential
Description
This study is about the potential use of hydropower in the department of Indre-et-Loire. It deals with physical, ecological and legal aspects of this issue. It takes part in a global study ordered by the regional energy supplier (Syndicat Intercommunal d'Energie d'Indre-et-Loire), in the aim to diversify sources of energy supply. Small Hydropower has an important potential of development but it is subject to strict rules. Any project of installation and equipment of small hydropower has to consider the ecological requirements of the aquatic environment. It needs to study all the ecological aspects of the project before trying to produce a green or renewable energy. In this report, two cases studies are presented about installation of hydropower: the first one is report on installations at an existing dam (river Cher) and the other is on a yet undammed river (river Esves). The objective of these studies is to present a guideline how to establish a hydropower project considering the ecological and legal aspects. Moreover, a decision support tool for little hydropower projects is provided. (author)
Abstract (French)
Cette etude traite du potentiel hydroelectrique du departement d'Indre-et-Loire en abordant les aspects physiques, ecologiques, techniques et reglementaires de cette thematique. Elle s'insere dans une etude globale commandee par le Syndicat Intercommunal d'Energie d'Indre-et-Loire, dans le but de diversifier les sources d'approvisionnement en energie. La petite hydroelectricite presente un potentiel important de developpement mais est soumise a des contraintes reglementaires strictes. Tout projet d'installation et d'equipement de microcentrale doit respecter l'environnement et les milieux aquatiques et il convient d'etudier tous les aspects ecologiques avant de vouloir produire une energie 'verte' ou renouvelable. Deux etudes de cas de mise en place de microcentrales hydroelectriques sont abordees dans ce rapport. La premiere porte sur l'equipement d'un barrage existant (sur le Cher) et la seconde sur un troncon de cours d'eau non amenage (sur l'Esves). Ces etudes ont pour but d'aborder des projets d'installation en partant d'un point de vue ecologique et reglementaire et de presenter le deroulement du projet a de potentiels maitre d'ouvrages. A ces etudes s'ajoutent la realisation d'un outil d'aide a la decision pour un projet d'implantation de microcentrale. (auteur)Files
