Using natural gamma spectrometry to determine Stratigraphic surfaces

Description

Natural gamma radiation measurements were used to identify the maximum flood surfaces.Underground carboniferous alluvial deposits (Markada formation) in some wells in South Palmeric mountains in Syria, showed that the key surfaces and the system of deposits can be identify in more coherence and credibility by using gamma spectroscopy (U, Th, K, Th/U, Th/KX) linking them to the total amount of gamma radiation. Maximum flood surfaces can be identify from the less flood surfaces by uranium particle (>6 ppm) and rate of Th/U (<2). Uncompatible erosion surfaces has low rate of potassium and high rate of Th/KX (>8)
