DNA synthesis in the brain of 13-18 day-old embryos of X-irradiated rats
Description
It has been shown in the experiments with double labelling ([H3] and [C14]thymidine) that whole-body X-irradiation of rats (150 R), on the 15th day of pregnancy, causes a prolonged inhibition of DNA synthesis in the embryo's brain. The study of the rate of [C14]formate incorporation into RNA and DNA of the brain of 13-18-day-old embryos has demonstrated that the time of the most harmful action of radiation on the developing central nervous system (the 14th or 15th day of growth) coincides with the period of the highest rate of the DNA synthesis in the embryo's brain
