Role of NDE in plant life extension
Creators
- 1. Materials Reliability Systems, Westinghouse NDE Center, Pittsburgh, PA (USA)
Description
The role of nondestructive evaluation (NDE) considerations in the development of a rational plant life extension (PLEX) strategy is examined. Primary emphasis is directed at the impact of periodic inspection, improved discontinuity characterization, and in situ material property measurements. Priority determination based on probabilistic risk assessment is discussed along with recommendations for further work critical to the acceptance and certification of these important structural integrity concepts
