Rainbow and Fresnel diffraction effects in the heavy ion scattering
Description
A detailed theoretical analysis of the heavy-ion elastic scattering differential cross section, using the uniform semiclassical approximation of Berry in the sharp cut-off limit is presented. A decomposition of the cross section into four physically well-defined components is used in the analysis. The aim of the analysis is to explore the possibility of distinguishing at the cross-section level, between a pure raibow or Fresnel diffraction nature of the heavy-ion elastic scattering at above-barrier energies and not too large angles. Faz-se uma analise teorica da seccao de choque diferencial de espalhamento elastico σe de ions pesados, utilizando a aproximacao uniforme de Berry adaptada a absorcao em sharp cut-off e, ainda, um novo enfoque que consta de uma decomposicao apropriada de σe em quatro componentes, tendo cada uma delas um significado fisico bem definido. Esta analise e dirigida de forma a procurarmos uma maneira de identificar-se qual das duas interpretacoes melhor se adapta a realidade; difracao de Fresnel ou espalhamento tipo arco-iris, em se tratando de espalhamento de ions pesados em energias superiores a barreira Coulombiana, em angulos dianteiros.
