Observability of the size of the universe
Description
The transition rate from vacuum to excited states in M3xS1 space-time is calculated in the specific case where the monopole detector is uniformly accelerated perpendicular to the S1 axis. The result is that the spectrum detected by an accelerating monopole detector is altered by the presence of a periodic boundary condition. Thus the size of the universe is observable in principle if our universe is multiply connected. (orig.)
