Is there only one finite superstring ?
Description
The paper on finiteness in the superstring context is a contribution to the book dedicated to E.S. Fradkin on the occasion of his sixtieth birthday. The paper concludes that there is only one superstring theory which can have finite on-shell scattering amplitudes for massless states. The various difficulties in all other superstring and string theories cause them to be destroyed at least at two-loops and beyond, whereas for the heterotic string the on-shell amplitudes are all finite at all loop orders.
