DNA radiosensitivity in carcinoma of the human cervix

Description
The radiosensitivity of DNA in human cervix carcinomas was examined by using alkaline sucrose gradient centrifugation to measure radiation-induced single-strand breaks. The DNA strand-break efficiencies observed in DNA of 18 specimens fell into two distinct groups, radiosensitive and radioresistant. The Difference in DNA radiosensitivity may be correlated with the pathological classifications of carcinomas. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Die Strahlensensibilitaet der DNA aus menschlichen Zervixkarzinomen wurde mittels Messung der durch Strahlung erzeugten Einzelstrangbrueche festgestellt, wozu die im folgenden beschriebene Zentrifugationsmethode benutzt wurde (alkaline sucrose gradient centrifugation). Die Beobachtungen an der DNA in 18 Praeparaten ergaben aufgrund des Anteils der DNA-Strangbrueche zwei deutlich voneinander verschiedene Gruppen, eine strahlensensible und eine strahlenresistente. Die Unterschiede bei der DNA-Strahlensensibilitaet stehen moeglicherweise im Zusammenhang mit der pathologischen Klassifizierung der Karzinome. (orig.)Additional details
