Catalysis of oxidation of Pu(3) by tret-butyl hydroperoxide by Fe(3) ions

Description
Catalysis by Fe(3) ions of Pu(3) oxidation by tret-butyl hydroperoxide is investigated. Pu(3) oxidation by tret-butyl hydroperoxide in the presence of Fe(3) ions is limited by slow stage of interaction of Fe2 ions with (CH3)3COOH with following fast reversible Pu3+ oxidation by Fe3+ ions. In accordance with this mechanism the rate of the reaction in HNO3 solution is described by equation -d[Pu(3)]/dt=k[Pu(3)][(CH3)3COOH][Fe(3)][HNO3]1.5/[Pu(4)], where k=0.206±0.007 l2.5/(mol2.5·min) at 26 Deg C and variable ionic strength. Activation energy is 58.7±1.1 kJ/mol
Abstract (Russian)
Исследован катализ ионами Fe(3) реакции окисления Pu(3) гидропероксидом трет-бутила. Окисление Pu(3) гидропероксидом трет-бутила в присутствии ионов Fe(3) лимитируется медленной стадией взаимодействия ионов Fe2 и (CH3)3COOH с последуюшим окислением ионов Pu3+ ионами Fe3+ в быстрой обратимой стадии. В соответствии с этим механизмом скорость реакции в растворе HNO3 описывается уравнением -d[Pu(3)]/dt=k[Pu(3)][(CH3)3COOH][Fe(3)][HNO3]1.5/[Pu(4)], где k=0.206±0.007 л2.5/(моль2.5·мин) при 26 град C и переменной ионной силе.
