Description

The review of the most important problems of charged particle accelerator theory-such as betatron oscillations, phase focusing and synchrotron oscillations, radiation damping, electron bunch lifetime, electron bunch cross section is given in brief. The main principles of specialized electron accelerator facilities-intense synchrotron radiation (SR) sources are presented. Projects of two SR storage facilities are described and its spe-- cifications are given. ALADDIN SR storage facility has intermediate energy of 0.75 GeV and serves as an intense radiation source for the infrared range till 6.5 A. ALADDIN structure has twelve unit sections and four lona rectilinear sections. Eeach unit section consists of the following elements in series: multipole correcting magnet, vertical focusing quadrupole, radial focusing quadrupole, second vertical focusing quadrupole, beam bending magnet and second multipole correcting magnet. NSLS 2.5 GeV SR storage facility is designed for purporses of x radiation physics, crystallography and biology. NSLS unit section comprises eight beam bending magnets and eleven quadrupole lenses. NSLS structure consists of six unit sections
