Description
A procedure to estimate annual, committed and life time doses from acute and chronic intakes of a long-lived radionuclide 239Pu, is described. Annual dose computations, presented for 239Pu of 5μm activity median aerodynamic diameter (AMAD), takes into account contribution from previous years intakes. Annual limits on intakes (ALI) for W and Y class of 239Pu are computed as per the new internal dose limitation system of ICRP-61. Life time doses, corresponding to chronic intakes of 1 ALI/y for working periods of 40 and 50 years are presented for life span of 70 years of a radiation worker. These results are useful in assigning annual doses for occupational workers handling 239Pu. (author). 5 refs., 2 tabs
