Automatic determination of the regional ejection fraction of the left ventricle (gated bloodpool)
Description
The left ventricular volume curve and the ejection fraction are calculated according to the ''sliding region of interest'' method in which the ventricle contour is redetermined for every single picture of the various phases of the heart beat. The original set of data, consisting of 32 pictures in 64 x 64 matrix resolution, is processed by a three-dimensional filtering process in space (x,y) and time (t). The ventricle contour is determined by convolution of the filtered images with a 7-point Laplacian operator in 4 independent directions. The atrial and ventricular phase histograms are then calculated on the basis of this contour. (WU)

Die linksventrikulaere Volumenkurve sowie die Ejektionsfraktion werden nach der Methode der ''gleitenden Region of Interest'' berechnet, wobei in jeder Einzelbildphase des Herzschlages die Ventrikelgrenze neu bestimmt wird. Der Originaldatensatz, bestehend aus 32 Bildern in 64 x 64 Matrixaufloesung, wird einem dreidimensionalen Filterprozess im Raum (x,y) und Zeit (t) unterzogen. Die Randkontur der Herzkammern wird durch Konvolution der gefilterten Bilder mit einem 7-Punkt-Laplace-Operator in vier unabhaengigen Richtungen erhalten. Innerhalb dieser Kontur wird dann das Phasenhistogramm fuer Ventrikel und Atrium berechnet. (WU)Additional details
