Description
The pronounced structures in energy spectra of autoionization electrons arising from near threshold electron impact on rare gases are shown to be due to interferences between contributions from different intermediate autoionizing states, and from the direct ionization process, to the observed electron intensity. By semiclassical calculations based on the 'post collision model' existing autoionization electron spectra for He are reproduced. (author)
