Description

Mo-Cr-Pd and Mo-W-Cr-Pd alloys were prepared by either arc-melting or sintering procedures. After further preparation the alloys were subjected to static and, in some cases, cyclic oxidation studies in the temperature range of 1273 to 1573 K. The static experiments were generally in one atmosphere of oxygen while the cyclic tests were performed in one atmosphere of air. The results obtained were quite positive in that chromia scales were formed. In this paper proposed mechanisms are discussed as well as the role of Pd coatings in preventing oxidation in the low temperature range
