A review of the theoretical ideas that have been recently developed in the study of kinetic-growth processes whose asymptotic properties deviate from the central-limit (Gaussian) behaviour is presented. The statistics of polymers configurations are treated. Other kinetic models that have raised a large interest are also discussed
