Sol-gel deposition of Tb3+:Y2SiO5 cathodoluminescent layers
- 1. AT and T Bell Labs., Murray Hill, NJ 07974 (USA)
Description
Yttrium orthosilicate, TB3+-doped, cathodoluminescent films were deposited on fused silica and sapphire substrates using a sol-gel method. A composition close to the stoichiometric was obtained. Heating of the films produced amorphous coatings which at 9000C crystallized, forming Y2SiO5 crystals. Dependence of the cathodoluminescence on the phase composition of the films was studied
