Description

In the present paper the design considerations of minor actinide targets for transmutation are discussed. The 'hybrid' fuel concept that is proposed is explained In this design the minor actinide is stabilized in a Zr-based host phase, which is dispersed in an inert matrix. The available knowledge about the radiation damage, phase relations and thermal properties of relevant materials (MgO, MgAl2O4, ZrO2) are reviewed
