Description

The cross section for nucleon (N) and antinucleon (anti N) annihilation from states of the continuum and also the annihilation widths and level shifts of the N anti N quasinuclear system with an orbital momentum l not equal to 0 are calculated within the framework of coupled channel model. It is shown that although the annihilation cross section is great (compared to the unitary limit at nonrelativistic energies) the annihilation widths GITAsub(an) for the quasinuclear states are small (GITAsub(an)=1-10 MeV for l=2). Annihilation is found to reduce the resonance width. The physical reason of the phenomenon is elucidated
