Oxidation of cadmium sulfoselenide by atmospheric oxygen

  • 1. Ural'skij Politekhnicheskij Inst., Sverdlovsk (USSR)

Description

The method of thermogravimetry has been used to study the kinetics of oxidation of cadmium sulfoselenide of the composition xCdSxyCdSe, its components CdS, CdSe as well as their mixtures with glass-enamel powder at 773-1173 K in the air. It is shown that CdS and CdSe oxidation is accompanied by formation for the most part of sulfates or cadmium selenates at 773-973 K and 860-1070 K temperatures, respectively; at higher temperatures CdO is formed. Cadmium sulfide is oxidized from the surface, selenide oxidation occurs in the phase volume
