Some properties of metal of steel 20KhGSNM welds produced at welding in carbon dioxide or its mixture with oxygen

  • 1. Zhdanovskij Metallurgicheskij Inst. (Ukrainian SSR)

Description

The tendency has been estimated of the welds to formation of hot and cold cracks when welding steels 20KhGSNM in the mixture of carbon dioxide and oxygen. When welding high-strength chromium-nickel-molybdenum steels 20KhGSNM in the mixture of carbon dioxide and oxygen, resistance of the weld to formation of hot cracks increases by 10-11%. The resistance of the metal in the nejghbourhood of the weld to formation of cold cracks increases either. The mechanical properties of the metal deposit-welded in the mixture of carbon dioxide and oxygen are somewhat higher than the properties of the metal welded in carbon dioxide, whereas the impact strength is reduced by 3.5 kgfxm/cm2
