Description

The aim of this work was to made preliminary studies of alpha and beta radionuclides treatment on tumour and tissue cell lines in-vitro. As a model radionuclide, in this study, 223Ra, 153Sm and 186Re were used. The applied activity was in the range 0-8 kBq/mL for all radionuclides mentioned above. Impact of alpha and beta treatment was tested on tissue (Chinese hamster pulmonary fibroblasts - V79 cells) and on tumour (human adenocarcinoma - DU145 and human glioblastoma - U87) cell lines. All cell lines have been cultivated in the presence of 223Ra, 153Sm or 186Re for 24 hours after the monolayer of the cells was created. After the cultivation, the clonogenic survival test was performed and survival curves for all cell lines were constructed. Sensitivity of both human carcinoma cell lines to treatment by all used radionuclides is higher than the sensitivity of Chinese hamster pulmonary fibroblast cell line. Sensitivity of tested carcinoma or tissue cell lines is higher to alpha treatment than beta treatment in the same applied activities of alpha and beta radionuclides. (authors)
