High-density operation tokamaks
Description
In this paper, we shall focus on a particular aspect of this field, i.e. operation at high plasma electron density. As will be shown in the next section, operating at high density (n ≥ 1020m-3) give many advantages in approaching ignition and is a rather fundamental requirement for the reactor regime. Any aspect of operation in this range is then of great interest for the next step in fusion research. In particular it is very important to establish what parameters are relevant for the high density limits in tokamaks which typically shows up with an abrupt termination of the discharge and prevents from pushing the density towards higher values
