Separation of sulfur isotopes by physicochemical methods

  • 1. Moskovskij Khimiko-Tekhnologicheskij Inst. (USSR)

Description

Status of works in the region of sulfur isotope separation using the methods of rectification, chemical isotopic and ion exchange is considered. Specifications of laboratory and commercial plants described in literature for sulfur isotope separation are presented. Ways of further intensifying and rational arrangement of these processes as well as prospects for scientific researches are considered. Disclosing relations between physicochemical properties of working systems and their effect on the value of separation coefficient, rate of isotope exchange are significant. Special attention is paid to adsorption processes as well as to the processes of chemical isotope exchange between SO2 and its thermally instable components in solid or dissolved state in inert solvent
