A study on the characteristics and design methodology of the regional overpower protection trip (ROPT) system in the 600 MWe CANDU reactors
- 1. Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute, Taejon (Korea, Republic of)
Description
This report outlines the means which protects the reactor against fuel channel overpower resulting from local power transients such as a temporary Loss of Regulation incident during normal operation. This report also describes the design approach and concepts which optimize the protection and improve plant operability. Finally the reports relates the design process which conceptually shows how to determine the trip setpoints, and locations of in-core flux detectors inside the reactor and their trip channelization. 17 figs., 7 tabs., 13 refs.
