Description
RSG- GAS is a pool type reactor that uses material testing reactor (MTR) type fuel element of U3O8-Al with U-235 enrichment of 19.75 %.In accordance with the advancement of fuel fabrication technology by the Centre for Nuclear Fuel Element Development (PEBN-BATAN). a research to develop and product the fuel of MTR type modelled will be interesting. This paper describes the thermal-hydraulics aspect in development of fuel model of several numbers of plates. The calculations were done for number of plates of 17, 19, 21, 23, 25 and 27 plates with the same plate width and fuel element dimension, for reactor power of 30 MW (nominal power) and 34.2 MW (over power). and primary coolant of 800 kg/s. Analyses using the COOLOD-N code showed that only fuel element with the number of plates between 19 and 23 meets the safety criterions
