Antiprotonic molybdenum: resonant coupling of atomic and nuclear states and the impact of annihilation on the nucleus (PS 186)

  • 1. Technische Univ. Muenchen (Germany, F.R.)

Description

The coupling by the E2 nuclear resonance effect of atomic and nuclear states in antiprotonic atoms was observed in sup(94,98)Mo by an attenuation of the (n=7 → n=6) transition. In 100Mo the effect manifests itself by an almost complete attenuation of the (n=8 → n=7) transition and a broadening of the (n=9 → n=8) line. Strong interaction widths were determined for n=7 and n=6 levels. The distribution of residual nuclei after the p-bar annihilation in Mo isotopes was obtained by activation analysis showing that more than thirty nucleons may be emitted. (author)
