Legislative policy and standards preparedness for licensing process of NPP's IandC systems

Description
A list of operating Ukrainian nuclear power plant units is given. The reasons for IandC modernization are outlined. An overview is given of the state of IandC modernization of Ukrainian NPPs. A table is given summarizing the standards, guidelines and rules related to this modernization. A list is presented of the requirements put on expert assessment of modernized IandC systems. On an example the stages of the licensing process involved are demonstrated. The requirements on software design and quality are summarized, as are the requirements on software testing. The table of contents of a regulatory document concerning microprocessor-based safety systems is shown. (A.K.)
