Description
Some of the important and innovative equipment which has been developed by the oil spill co-ops and PROSCARAC to make oil spill response faster and more efficient were briefly described. They included: (1) the PEDCO skimmer, used for skimming oil from the water surface, (2) the transportable air curtain incinerator, used for remote areas, (3) a 12 inch skirt lake boom, used for cleanup operations on lakes, (4) ice slotting, used for recovering oil from underneath river or lake ice, (5) boom deflectors, used to determine the appropriate boom angle in river or lake currents, and (6) improved sorbents, used for soaking up spilled oil product
