Present status of research and development of high temperature gas-cooled reactor in JAERI, 1986
Description
The development of high temperature gas-cooled reactors has the very important meaning in connection with the energy policy in Japan such as the diversification of energy sources and the stable ensuring of energy. The Atomic Energy Commission organized the expect committee on research and development plant of high temperature gas-cooled reactors in April, 1986, which reviewed the research and development plan of heretofore, discussed and examined the method of advancing the research and development hereafter taking recent energy situation in consideration, and drew up the interim report in August. Conforming to the results, Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute is to construct early the high temperature engineering test and research reactor preparing for the development of high temperature gas technology in future, and to forward such advanced basic research as to create various technical seeds which become the chance of future technical innovation by the cooperation with universities and national institutes. In this report, the course of the research and development from the beginning 15 years ago, and the results obtained in the last one year are described. (Kako, I.)
