Heavy ion beam irradiation on the cosmic X-ray polarimeter

  • 1. RIKEN, Wako, Saitama (Japan)

Description

Iron beam with an energy of 500 MeV/n and proton beam with an energy of 160 MeV were irradiated to the gas electron multiplier (GEM) which is the key device of our cosmic X-ray polarimeter. The GEM was properly operated at a nominal operation voltage after 40 years equivalent irradiation. (author)
