Description
Radioactive waste that was spread for more than 20 years at an industrial site in Northern New Jersey is being remediated by the US Department of Energy and Bechtel. Wastes and residues from processing operations typically contained less than 5% of the original thorium concentration. Under the 1984 Energy and Water Appropriations Act, Congress authorized DOE to conduct a decontamination research and development project at the old plant site and at properties in its vicinity
