Neutron dose determination in stainless steel by mass spectrometric measurement of stable-isotope abundance ratios
Description
The isotopic composition of materials exposed to neutron irradiation is altered due to the occurence of neutron-induced nuclear reactions. When the neutron spectrum and the relevant cross sections are known, the total neutron dose can be determined by post-irradiation measurement of stable isotopic ratios. In this work, thermal neutron induced abundance changes in stainless steel are measured by secondary ion mass spectrometry on single microscopic steel particles. Evaluation methods and accuracy limits are given. (Auth.)
