Coordinate characteristics of a modular gamma detector with a 75-mm cell

  • 1. Institute of Theoretical and Experimental Physics, Moscow (Russian Federation)

Description

A study of the coordinate resolution of a sampling gamma detector with a 75-mm cell is presented. Using the energy distribution's center-of-gravity method, the shower coordinate can be determined to within 2.0 mm. Measured shower profiles may be useful for rapid and accurate reconstructions of shower coordinates and multiple background events with overlapping showers. The measurements are in reasonable agreement with an EGS4 calculation. The e/π rejection by the second moment of the shower profile is considered
