Description
Due to more than 80 years of intensive R + D work in the field of turbomachinery, it has become nearly impossible to still improve the present level of efficiency. New estimations calculate a possible efficiency improvement of only 1 to 1.5%. In contrast, the chances of improving the availability are much better. (orig./TK)

Dank intensiver Forschung und Entwicklung auf dem Gebiet der thermischen Stroemungsmaschinen ueber einen Zeitraum von mehr als 80 Jahren ist heute ein Wirkungsgradniveau erreicht, das kaum noch gesteigert werden kann. Neuere Abschaetzungen halten allenfalls noch eine Wirkungsgradverbesserung von 1 bis 1,5% fuer moeglich. Dagegen sind die Erfolgsaussichten die Verfuegbarkeit zu steigern, weit hoeher einzuschaetzen.
