Uterus localization by computed tomography for the optimization of primary combined radiotherapy of inoperable uterine cervix cancer

Description
The authors present the technique of CT reconstruction of the shape of the uterus in topograms of the pelvic region. The treatment scheme of combined endocavitary and percutaneous radiotherapy of uterine cervix carcinomas can be improved by means of the described method. The reliability of this method is compared to that of radiotherapy planning based on measuring radiography. Modifications of the position of the uterus obtained by endocavitary inserts proved to be relevant if the endocavitary regions exposed to high doses are left out from percutaneous therapy. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Es wird die Technik der computertomographischen Uteruskonturrekonstruktion in Uebersichtstopogrammen der Beckenregion eingefuehrt. Die Methode ermoeglicht eine Verbesserung der Planung der kombinierten endokavitaeren und perkutanen Radiotherapie von Gebaermutterhals-Karzinomen. Die Zuverlaessigkeit der Methode wird im Vergleich zur Strahlentherapieplanung aufgrund von Radiometrieaufnahmen untersucht. Die Lageaenderungen des Uterus durch endokavitaere Einlagen erweisen sich als relevant, falls eine Aussparung hoch endokavitaer belasteter Regionen bei der perkutanen Therapie vorgenommen wird.
