Hydrostatic extrusion effect on plasticity of carbide-strengthened niobium alloys
Description
Niobium-molybdenum alloys were studied with a high content of carbideforming elements - zirconium and carbon. These alloys, which are brittle under normal conditions, become highly plastic at a pressure of 15-17.5 kbar. The possibility is shown of deforming these alloys by the method of hydroextrusion with counterpressure. The optimization of the structure alloys in the course of hydroextrusion determines the considerable increase in their plasticity, which manifests itself after annealing of the deformed specimens. Intensive strain hardening persists up to 1500 deg C
