Electrical Conductivity of Molten LiCl-KCl Eutectic with Components of Spent Nuclear Fuel

  • 1. Institute of High Temperature Electrochemistry, Ural Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences, Ekaterinburg (Russian Federation)

Description

The electrical conductivity of a number of quasi binary melts LiCl-KCl)eut., containing CeCl3, NdCl3, UCl3, as well as CsCl and CdCl2, and some of 3-4 component (LiCl-KCl)eut. - CeCl3 - NdCl3 - UCl3 mixtures was measured. The densities of the melts under study were evaluated and their molar conductivities were calculated. Liquidus lines were built for the measured systems from the breaks on conductivity polytherms. The results obtained are analyzed in terms of coexistence and mutual competition of complexes, which are formed by Li+ and Cd2+, Ce3+, Nd3+, U3+ cations. (author)
