Fast neutron scattering cross-sections for actinide nuclei in the energy range 0.6-3.4 MeV

Description

Differential cross sections for neutron elastic and inelastic scattering from 232Th, 233U, 235U, 238U, 239Pu and 242Pu have been measured at incident energies ranging from 0.6 to 3.4 MeV. Comparison of these results with the latest available evaluations show large discrepancies. The present data have been analysed in the framework of the direct-interaction and compound-nucleus formalisms. Optical potential parameters and nuclear deformation parameters deduced from the calculations are discussed

Abstract (French)

Les sections efficaces differentielles de diffusion de neutrons par les noyaux 232Th, 233U, 235U, 238U, 239Pu et 242Pu, ont ete mesurees dans la gamme d'energie des neutrons incidents allant de 0,6 a 3,4 MeV. Des desaccords importants apparaissent entre les resultats obtenus et les evaluations les plus recentes. Les presentes donnees ont ete analysees dans le cadre des formalismes de l'interaction directe et du noyau compose. Les parametres du potentiel optique et les deformations nucleaires deduits des calculs sont discutes
