Description
Experimental results on the multiplicity and rapidity distribution of shower particles produced in proton-emulsion interactions at 400 GeV are discussed and compared with the predictions of the collective tube model and the various multistep models. The multiplicity distribution seems to be consistent with the predictions of the model due to Andersson and Otterlund. The multiple scattering model of Capella and Krzywicki satisfactorily explains the results on the average multiplicity, dispersion and the rapidity distribution. (orig.)
