Spectroscopic analysis of LiY sub(0,6)Er sub(0,4)F sub(4) (YELF) crystal

Description

The construction of Er pulsed laser source, based on sup(4)S sub(3/2) → sup(4)I sub(9/2) transitions of Er sup(3+), which produces optical pumping of four levels in the region where the eyes are not affected and can be operated at room temperature, is presented. The crystal has Er high concentration, 40% and it is a mixed crystal. Measurements of absorption and emission spectroscopy, life time of fluorescent levels, etc, for characterizing material and determining its potential to construct pulsed laser, were done. (M.C.K.)
