Isotopic exchange between CO2 and H2O in heterogeneous systems

Description
An unsophisticated mathematical pattern has been applied to the accurate study of oxygen 18 exchange reactions between carbon dioxide and water in heterogeneous systems. From the variations of the isotopic content of highly labelled CO2 introduced in the gaseous phase, one can calculate the diffusion flow between phases and the rate of CO2 hydratation. This method has been applied to the study of systems of increasing complexity: aqueous solutions, algae suspensions and aerial leaves of higher plants
Abstract (French)
Un modele mathematique simple permet d'etudier avec precision les echanges d'atomes d'oxygene entre CO2 et H2O dans des systemes heterogenes. Il suffit de connaitre la variation de la teneur en 18O du CO2 fortement enrichi introduit dans la phase gazeuse pour atteindre le debit des transferts par diffusion entre phases et la vitesse d'hydratation du CO2.
