Description

In this paper we discuss the measurement of regions in the proton where the density of small-x partons is large, called 'hot spots', by means of an associated jet analysis. The jet kinematics in the HERA frame is discussed and a Monte Carlo estimate of the expected jet cross section is given. An analytical estimate of the cross section is presented and compared with Monte Carlo results. A jet analysis on detector simulated data is presented to illustrate the feasibility of the associated jet measurement at HERA. (orig.)
