Electric field near a rotating neutron star

Description

Electric field of a neutron star is simulated by means of a rotating conducting sphere. An electric field near a rotating magnetized sphere is found in the case when the sphere a) rotates in vacuum and b) is surrounded with a magnetosphere similar to the considered earlier by Goldreich and Julian. Two models of radiopulsars are discussed: the ejecting model (charged particles are pulled out from the surface of a neutron star) and the accreting model (charged particles are produced by ionization of interstellar neutral hydrogen. In the case of the accreting model large velocities of pulsars V approximately 300 km/s can be in agreement with their sufficient flate distribution in the Galaxy with the mean red shift of approximately 200 ps
