Description

In 1984 the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) established the Central Training Academy (CTA). The academy's mission at that time was to provide state-of-the-art, standardized training to DOE and DOe contractor safeguards and security personnel. The CTA's primary mission still is to provide quality training of the safeguards and security personnel throughout the DOE who are, or may become, involved in the protection of vital national resources. Our major goals are to develop quality training instruction, use of an ongoing training evaluation program, establish and maintain a professional instructor cadre, and standardize training in the area of safeguards and security. This paper addresses current and future CTA training initiatives for safeguards and technical security programs. It also addresses specific courses, course content and objectives, and course prerequisites
