Description

Highlights: • One-step route for deposition of nitrogen-doped ZnS nanoparticles is proposed. • N-doped ZnS nanoparticles are characterized by XRD, EPR and UV/Vis methods. • Origin of N atoms within ZnS lattice is elucidated by quantum-chemical calculations. • The emergence of N impurity in ZnS lattice is related to NH4+ ions.
