Scintigraphic investigations of the adrenals by means of 75Se-selenocholesterol

  • 1. Akademia Medyczna, Warsaw (Poland)

Description

Thirty-six investigations in 29 patients with various adrenal diseases demonstrated a high usefulness of 75Se-selenocholesterol (marketed as Scintadren by Amersham) in the scintigraphic diagnosis of adrenal diseases. The optimal scintigraphic conditions for this radioactive marker were outlined for basal investigations as well as for investigations after adrenocortical blockade with dexamethasone. The authors think that 75Se-selenocholesterol is presently the best radioactive compound for scintigraphic examinations of the adrenals. (author)
