A method for unchanged energy calibration in the pulse height analyser for a gas filled ΔE-proportional counter at different filling pressures

  • 1. Saha Inst. of Nuclear Physics, Calcutta (India)

Description

A method for the energy calibration of a gas-filled proportional counter is proposed using a monoenergetic α-source and different filling pressures of the counter gas. The gas multiplication factor is a function of pressure and voltage; still it becomes possible to use a unique energy calibration by simple manipulation of operational voltage such that the gas multiplication factor remains the same at different filling pressures.
