Photophysics of n-butylcarbazolebodipy: a possible fluorescent probe and imaging dye

  • 1. Department of Chemistry, Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Chennai (India)
  • 2. Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad (India)

Description

Fluorescent probes have been extensively used for understanding the environment around the probe molecule at nanoscopic/microscopic levels. Research on the fluorescence of novel boron-dipyrromethene (BODIPY) derivatives have received increased attention in the recent times. The photophysics of a BODIPY dye with carbazole conjugation at meso-position, N-butylcarbazole BODIPY, has been explored. The dye shows different solvatochromism in protic and aprotic solvents. It also tends to aggregate in polar medium. (author)
