Phase relationships and their effect on cathodoluminescence in the yttrium oxide-tungsten oxide system

  • 1. Royal Radar Establishment, Malvern (UK)

Description

A study is reported of the luminescent properties of the compounds in the yttrium oxide-tungsten oxide phase diagram with special reference to how the luminescence is affected by stoichiometry as given by the diagram. The preparation of the phosphors and of the luminescent targets is described. Emission intensity at 615 nm is shown for various doped yttrium-oxygen-tungsten compounds under different preparation conditions, and at 450 nm for Eu2O3-doped Y2WO6 under different preparation conditions. Emission intensity (Eu3+) is shown as a function of composition in the Y2O3-WO3 phase system. The results are discussed. (U.K.)
